Battery change
2002 x type 3.0. I need to change the battery and read that i need to enter the system pin for the audio system to work again... I dont have my pin. How do i get my pin?
Jagm, go to your local Jaguar dealer, walk in with the registration for your car, talk to the guys back in Service. They will be able to look up your car based on the VIN and give you the radio code. You need the registration to prove that you own the car. Most dealerships will not hand out that information unless they are garanteed that you own the vehicle.
I changed my battery in my 02 X type and never had to reset the radio. Good thing because I don't know the code. I only had it disconnected for a few minutes. Not sure how long it could be disconnected before you need the code. And thanks Thermo, I didn't know that I could get the code that easy. Do they charge for it?

Jaguar Dealers can get it from the 'Direct Dealer Warranty System' if you find your vehicle is coded.
Coded radios are always fitted for all UK market models but are the exception for US market. A few US X308 and XK8 owners have recently reported being prompted for a code after battery disconnection but there appears to be no pattern on Model Year or region.

I have changed the battery and I use the 9V gadget that I got at Walmart..Kragen, or O'Reilly sells. It keeps all the codes, and window settings ... it is a $ 5.95 gadget...and it works. It plugs into the lighter, and is no big deal
Jac, will a dealership charge you, they shouldn't. But, there are some dealerships that will probably try (due to using their time). So, ask, see what the guy says and go from there. HOpefully you have more than one dealership in town.

Had to change the battery a bit over a year ago. In Florida you'll typically get 3 years out of them. You don't have to worry about the radio code on U.S. spec X-Types. BTW, this time I replaced the Jaguar OEM with AutoZone's Duralast Gold 94R-DLG. $145 plus tax.
