Smile Can you all Id something in my Trunk?

I was looking around my trunk today cleaning it up a bit, I lifted up the cover that covers the spare and found the back up sensor mechanism on the left inside the tire well, interesting it says on the side Made in Germany. On the opposite side I found the following. Attached is a photo of the item, can anyone tell me what it is for?

I turned 65 yesterday, officially a senior citizen>

Hey Adam

Happy belated birthday. I have no clue what that is. Can you do me a favour next time you're out in the truck. Take a picture of the back up sensor unit please? I think mine is hooped but there is a ton of electronics since mine is the premium with the amps etc.

Adam, I am not sure what that is either. It would almost remind me of a lug nut cover that if you broke off one of the fancy Jaguar ones, you could use that to cover the factory lugnut. But, much beyond that, not sure.

That's simple:

It's a switch that is to be pushed when you turn 65 years of age. It engages the Left Turn Signal and makes it blink constantly as you drive down the road.

Before pushing it, however - you need to purchase a plaid hat, and a pair of those wrap-around "I've Just Been To The Ophthalmologist And Had My Pupils Dilated" sunglasses.

Just check your mailbox for something from the A.A.R.P., it will explain it all. (This month's freebie from them is a "Gimme my Senior Discount!" bumper-sticker. Last month's said "Get off of my Lawn!!!")

Adam, maybe you should sell the Jag now that you're 65.

If you keep it much longer, it'll start getting that funky "Old Person" smell to the interior.

You can't get that stuff out of a car.

Please describe it's size and exact position and/or take another picture from farther away and another angle too.

C5: I have the same thing in my 2002
It is on the carpeted area along the back of the trunk deck near the cover to the spare tire.

"weird you dont have a matching aluminum rim as a spare.."

No what's weird is that considering this is a European luxury sedan... that spare is not only not mounted on a aluminum rim... IT'S A TEMPORARY SPARE NOT EVEN FULL SIZED.

Brand new Continental so I know it wasn't replaced by the previous owner

It's not a button. It looks like one, but it's a solid piece that was molded that way. I think it may be for the locking lug nut key or something.

Nope! The towing eye is located on the opposite side spare tire storage compartment from this piece.

Ching Ching Ching... and the winner is Dana0330

I looked at my bud's '05 and that is where his lug nut lock key is located. The hollow end fits over that plastic "stud"

As soon as I can get my son to take out the spare tire I will get a picture of the back up sensor for U. Probably over the weekend. There is quite a small area between the tire and the sensor, too small for even a phone camera. But I will get it for U.

Smile back up sensor pics

Here are three pics of the back up sensor, I am sorry if they are not to clear but it is a very hard place to get a pic. There is a plastic cover over the controller and I couldn't figure out how to remove it. I do hope these are of use to you.
