I recently bought a 2002 X type with 70,000 ( yeah 70k). The owner told me he was getting rid of it because the Cat needed to be replaced (I have a P0420 code). My problem is now that its cold she starts up pretty rough. In addition to the 0420 code I have the P300-305 codes for misfires. I know vacuum leaks are pretty common on this car and i started with obligatory search for the vacuum leak check. My first stop was the ITM O rings. I changed them and when I started the car the CEL started flashing, said DSC and cruise werent available. After about a minute it stopped and idled fine, do anyone know why that happened?

I plan on changing the spark plugs, manifold gaskets, brake hose vacuum hose and wires, anything else i should change?

 

I recently gutted my cats and put spacers on the o2 sensors on the cats. Way less expensive than the 1500 each the dealership wants for the cats...

 

If the light went off it may of been the itm o rings. The computer usually takes awhile to reset itself and run through all the drive cycles..if the rough idle on cold start up continues check the throttle body I just cleaned mine last night because I had trouble with my idle on cold start ups and now it works fine. Just take off the tube from the air filter box to the intake and clean the inside and around the butterfly flap.

 

Also check the other lines for cracks and splits in the rubber and plastic. all easy fixes.
