Still searching for the right x-type wagon. During my search I have noticed in several cars that their center consoles have had the finish peel off to varying degrees exposing the bright white plastice underneath. In some it has occurred at the rear of the console, no doubt from kids/passengers kicking it. Others I have noticed the finish peeled off by the driver's hip.

Has anyone had success repairing the finish on their consoles? If so, how easy/difficult was it and how did you do it?

depending on the finish you could always have it wrapped for not a lot of ££ /$$

Right. The finish on my center console is rubbing off at different areas. It is not too back, but I do notice it. It would be nice to have it refinished or painted, but I'm saving my $ for the mechanical work.

 

Or you can find one at a junk (salvage) yard. I picked up the newer style(2 cup holders) for under 100 bucks. Its like brand new
