Default clear engine warning light ?

Hello

I have dismantled and cleaned my EGR valve, is it possible to clear the engine warning light using the car fault system or do I have to take it to a garage with a computer ?

Many thanks
Harry

If the work you have completed fixes the cause of the check engine light it will turn off after approximately 4 start stop cycles in which the fault doesn't reappear. Did you actually check the engine codes i advance of the repair to insure you were making the correct repair?

Hello

I took the car to the garage when the engine light first came on and they said it was the EGR. They cleared the engine light but it soon came back on again. So I cleaned the EGR and just wondered if I needed to take it back to have the light cleared once again.

Thanks
Harry

Harryxtype,

1. See what Avern1 said above ^ to have it reset itself after drive cycles complete . . .
2. If you do not want to wait - you can have the code cleared and it should not come back if the issue was resolved.
