Have you tried disconnecting the battery?

If you take both leads off and then touch them together this will discharge any capacitors etc.

In effect this does a hard reboot of all the systems.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RADIO CODE FIRST THOUGH

Thanks for the response, and assuming the radio is not "fried", where or how do I get this code?

It is on a card (looks like a credit card) that came with the owner's manual and books. Sorry, unsure if there is a universal code you can punch in to make it work.
The fact that it turns on, but the buttons/functions don't work kind of lead me to the "fried" status. There's nothing magical about the stock stereo......if something doesn't work on it, I don't think resetting it is going to fix it, but you can try it.

If you don't have the code, your local dealer can supply it if you provide proof of ownership.

I didn't think to add in my query, that the radio is always on. It will receive on the FM 87 if there is any thing nearby. The on/off, mode, tuning, and most other buttons do not work the volume control, however does. Unfortunately I am quite a distance from any dealer as far as I know.
Thanks

The steering wheel controls have no control of it either?

When you say it is on all the time do you mean when you shut off the car and remove the key the radio continues to play?

Did it just start doing that out of the blue; like was it playing fine and then all of a sudden starting acting like your description?

Did you recently have any work done to the car or do anything to the audio system lately?

I can't say I have ever seen a thread with someone having this sort of issue before. Hope someone can point you in the right direction soon.

We just recently bought this car to replace the vehicle we had to give to our son. At the time I thought this would be a decent winter car, and the wife wanted it. It was not the best weather when I test drove the car, so the radio was not even an issue. A couple of days later we were out with the car and the wife was trying to set the clock, and that's when we found the radio was on, and could not be turned off, or changed any way but volume and not by the steering wheel controls. The radio is off when the car is off. On the way home the CEL came on and I am reasonably sure, that the previously posted codes were erased, probably by disconnecting the battery. And that's the story to date.
Thanks

Just thought I'd throw this in, for what it's worth, yesterday while driving, I noticed the FM frequency was 106.3- the other end of the band. I raised the volume and I had reception. I chanced to hit the AM/FM switch, and it changed over to 620 AM with reception, now it appears to be stuck there.
