Default Condensation Issue

I have a 02 x-type with 127K. Throughout the winter, I was having really bad condensation build-up inside the car. I had the air blend door glued twice. The dealership instructed me to keep the car on 'defrost' all the time, so I have. In may be had a week of colder weather, and the car was back to its old habit of fogging up and never defrosting or taking 30+ minutes to correct itself. Now that it's warmer almost every time that I turn on the car my windshield has a circle of condensation and water droplets inside the cabin by the defrost vents and a wave of white fog appears and later goes away. On very dry and hot days this does not happen, but 9 out of 10 I have this annoying fog issue. I am wondering if this problem may relate to the entire heater core, and what it would take to correct. I am tired of the issue, and want a permanent fix. Thanks for the help! I took video of the “wave” of white fog appear up the windshield if anyone needs to see it. I can e-mail it.

Newbie, it sounds like to me that you have a very slow draining line in the bottom of the ventilation area. What you will probably need to do is to access the ventilation system by pulling the motor out from the passenger footwell area. From there, you can stick in a coat hanger or something of the like and fish around in the bottom of the A/C condenser area to find the drain hole. Then you stick the coat hanger in there and push out the gunk that has built up over the years (probably a little bit of mold and the like). You may even be able to get away with using something like Lysol and putting a nice bit of it in the bottom there and then letting that dissolve the plug you have (if you can't find the hole itself). I had a similar issue with a 99 Mitsu Galant. I ended up devising a copper tube on the end of an air nozzle that I could use my air compressor to blow the plug out. The big trick is figuring out where the drain hole is. If I remember right (don't quote me on this), it is in the left side front corner of the box (right next to the gas pedal).

If they have tried to fix the blend door without sucess your car may well need an evaporater case. The bad news is they are no longer available.

I actually searched online for an evaporator case, and found some. I am brining the car in soon to be checked out. I am really tired of this re-occuring issue.
