Default Defective gauges

I own a Jaguar Xtype 2003 model.
got it as a Christmas treat for myself last year.
The hell with Covid and keeping us hiding from each other.

All but my fuel gauge don’t work. They all work briefly when I start the car in the morning and go flat after just about 10 to 15mins whether engine is idle or in motion.

It is an old car but I’m in love with it.
Any help?

Greetings from Ghana.

Welcome to the forums Onielle,

As you have posted a separate Intro, I've moved this one from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to X-Type forum for advice from members with the same model.

ONielle, from the sounds of things, you are suffering from a cracked solder joint on the instrument cluster. This is going to require you to remove the instrument cluster and do a little soldering there. So, how are your soldering skills? What you are looking for in the solder joint is a thin black line in the solder. You may find more than one solder joint that has this crack. Each of these solder joint will need a touch more solder added to correct the crack. If you are not comfortable doing the soldering, then I would be looking around for someone that does have this ability. If you are pondering just getting a new instrument cluster, if it were only that easy. The instrument cluster contains part of the circuitry that prevents people from stealing the car. So, if you do get a new instrument cluster, then you have to have it programmed to the car. Your local auto parts store code readers are not going to do what you need. You need what is referred to as an SDD computer. This will give you the ability to do this.
