DIY 02 Sensor

DIY 02 Sensor
Hi All,
My father in law has a 2.5V6 02 X Type and recently had the engine management light come on.
After reading on this forum, it was soon apparent it was Bank 1 Sensor 1 02 sensor(the one with the grey lead).
He's got a sensor, and i'm going to try and fit it for him, now i'm no mechanic but ive done a fair few things on cars from lightbulb replacement to rebuilding an engine so i'm happy giving this a go.
My only real questions is, any tips to make this a little easier to do? The sensor is at the back of the engine, and there isn't too much space to get your hand down. I don't have an 02 sensor removal tool, but i've never used on of these anyway, normally just use an adjustable or a socket etc.
Can the plastic panel come away, or can anything be removed to give more space? I'm planning on cutting the tape that is joining the 2 x 02 sensors, and then literally just sticking my arm down and undoing it then vice-versa to put it back.
Thanks

I would suggest using a proper tool. They are god awfully tight and you might also need to remove the intake manifold.
also some knuckle joints for an adjustable ratchet too.
I hope its a Jaguar o2 sensor. I have seen quite a few posts regarding generic sensors causing further problems. Believe it or not, I found genuine ones cheaper than generic ones.
