I've ordered all of the parts including the high power magnets I use to make the new magnetic plug I put in the valve after changing the fluid. I am waiting for shipping confirmation on the valves themselves. They should ship to me today or tomorrow, but I've been guaranteed shipment by Wednesday at the latest. Once I have confirmation of shipping and a shipping number I can trace, I'll email everyone who has expressed interest.

I've ordered 6 valves in this shipment but it looks like I'll need more so I will order another 6 today.

I'll keep you posted via this board till I have shipment confirmation.

Hi Wild Bill,

I'm a newforum member, but have been reading regularly to pick up bits of info. When I saw your post however, for the great little "tool" you fashioned for te TC fluid change, I just had to finally join! Are you stillmaking these? If so, pleasetell me how to get one. I have an '04 X-type with 44,000 and think it may be time for a TC flush. Thanks.......Tony

Sign me up for the kit, as long as it's done sometime soon... I have 95k and have never changed the TC oil, so time is of the essence

E-mail me when you know. Also, I have a manual transmission so I'm not sure how different that makes it? If anything, I could maybe help by noting what's different and improving upon any instructions you provide

Manuals have more room. However, I designed the kit for the automatic tranny cars and they are so easy, it really doesn't make much difference which tranny you have. Either one it's a ten minute job allowing nine minutes for the old fluid to drain. Literally easier and faster than changing the oil.

Can't wait for a kit/manual. I called the dealer to see how they would do it and what they would charge. Said it could only be done by pulling the TC, which would cost upwards of $700 in labor alone. Hah!

Bill

Excellent write up. Since my 04 just gave up the transfer case at 54K I will add this oil change to my routine. Do you happen to know the size and pitch of the threads in the TC? I would like to fabricate up a system as well. I change my oil every 3K and I am thinking every 2nd or 3rd time I can do the TC as well. At 600ml of oil it sure sounds like cheap insurance.

Thanks again for sharing this.

Bill, the treads on the transfer case drain hole are 1/2" NPT threads.

TTT!

Are these kits still available? I just came across a thread discussing how easy it makes TC fluid changes. Sounds very nice!

Any pics still available of the kit?

I got one from Bill last January. It works pretty good, at least the second time around. Bill's directions are anally perfect. I would think even a monkey could understand and do it. First time I got a little spillage on my later style and manual tranny but the second time I solved that issue. Apparently there is a little less room in the manual then the auto after the redesign. Bill doesn't get around here too much. Just do a google search of wildbill's tc kit and you should find his email somewhere on the web. That's how I got ahold of him.

Wild Bill, please PM me or post so i can purchase one of these kits as well. I'd like to change my TC oil regularly.
Thank you very much

I assume this kit will fit the same on the somewhat redesigned 2006 TC?
