Factory Supercharged X-Type!
Though I have an immense amount of respect for JHT, This one puzzles me
for one reason:
My understanding of why we can't fit a supercharger, turbo, or (a modest) nitrous-oxide system is that the transfer-case can't handle the increase in torque.
Your thoughts?

I always wondered why they didn't offer a "Type R" supercharged version. It's not anemic but it could use another 100 plus hp. I wish there was an aftermarket supercharger system available.

From what I have seen at the junkyards, what kills the transfer case is running out of oil. They would be much longer lived if there was a way to double or triple the oil capacity, plus make it much easier to change the oil and check the level.

Not sure if it is the transfer case, but when launched the X Type was the most powerful car to use the Jatco JF506 automatic transmission, I don't think it would survive another 100hp. The transmission in the car at Jaguar Heritage appears to be a manual.

I tend to manually shift mine when I need extra-performance in acceleration or deceleration, whereas my wife only uses P-R-D in her '08.
Cheers!
If you "want a supercharged X-Type", simply look for a supercharged XE. The XE is comparable to the X-Type for size and trim. But, the XE comes from the factory in AWD and has the supercharged 3.0L engine. I have driven one and lets just say it was fun to hear the race car driver's response when I was done. He said something to the effect of "you have driven an AWD car before and know how to throw it around". I was making the XE power drift through the corners. Nothing like hearing all 4 tires screaming to get traction as you are accelerating like a banshee. The 340 HP engine that the car had was a nice match to the XE.
If you want me to go more into the XE, let me know. I got to talk with the engineers about the XE, so, I have a bit more info on the car and I have lots of pictures of a cutaway car that was displayed in the London "XE Feel" event when they did the world premiere of the car.
