Default Fel Pro intake gaskets

So I bought the Fel Pros (MS96485) for the lower intake, and they have a flat spot in the middle of the long, straight portion. OEM doesn't.

I installed one with the flat spot facing upward (away from the head) and it made the other side bend rather than lay straight. I decided maybe they wanted me to install the flat spot downward, to make contact with the head, so I just installed them all flat-spot to head and torqued the assembly down accordingly.

Now, before I further re-assemble the rest of the goodies, I'm thinking that flat spot to head may be wrong. I have no clue.

Has anyone successfully driven on Fel Pro lowers without issue, and if so how did you orient the seals?

Thanks!

Lub, the flat spot on the o-rings should be on the outside of the recess area. So, yes, the flat spot should be towards the head. ONce you tighten things down, all will be fine. I did the Felpro gaskets on my car and never had any issues with leaks after the fact. The big thing is just keeping things orientated correctly.

Cool, thank you. So I'll go forward with confidence. I really appreciate it!

Oh, and thank you, santer, for trying to help and finding that thread!

You're both good men.

Lub, the next time I am out visiting friends in Salem, OR, we will have to hook up. I was just out that way at Christmas time.

Lub, too late, K'Re Ann is on her way to a new family. Granted, I need to start going through the garage and seeing what parts I have left over to start passing them out to members that might need them.
