Default Front License Plate Brackets Impossible To Find

What a pain! I just moved from Florida to North Virginia and registered my car. To my big surprise they give me TWO new license plates. At first I scratched my head and then.....AW DAMN! I knew I shouldn't have thrown away the front license plate brackets. Never lived in another state so I never knew how hard these would be to find. So now I have to put a front license plate (so ugly) but I don't have the mounting brackets.

The dealership charges like $72 for them which is ridiculous for a piece of plastic. Is there any chance that somebody here moved to or purchased in a state where they don't need front license plates that can spare an unused bracket??? I'm sure the "I just moved here" excuse won't work for too long with the local police if I get stopped.

The original selling dealer just rammed two screws into the plastic bumper for the front plate here.... no bracket. It has held on for 9 years, looks ok too.

I think you would be able to get one (and the rivet) for about $50 from some dealers like Nalley Jaguar or Jaguarparts.com. They offer discounts to the Jaguar Forum members.

That's good to know. I would definitely prefer to save the clean look of the front bumper so if I were to ever move the car back to Florida I could take it off. So here's a question, do the brackets themselves require drilling into the bumper? Cause if so then I guess a valid temporary fix is to go ahead and drill the plates right into the front until I can find an official bracket.

I believe it's held on with one rivet, and the plat is screwed into the holes on the bracket. So, you'd have to decide whether you prefer one or two holes in the bumper. Too bad you can't just use a strong two-sided tape or something without the possiblity of the plate falling off.
