Default Front wheel bearing?

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2006 3.0 and on the way to work this morning it started making a whining noise from the right front. It sounds like a wheel bearing going bad. At about 75 mph I can feel it in the steering wheel but not before that. Any other other thought of what it could be other than a bearing?

sdettra - Check your tires. What's the tread look like? Is there a steel belt showing? When you get up to 70-75mph and the steering wheel starts to shakes is an indicator of a wheel out of balance.

A wheel bearing going bad would shake all the time and get worse with speeding up. If you feel the vibration, try touching the brakes and the vibration should go away.

Just some things to check out.

Try the tires first, but normally you can single out a wheel bearing by going up a long sloping turn like an exit ramp. If the sound gets worse on the right or left sweeping turns then you have got your culprit.

I have a wub-wub-wub sound coming from my front wheels. New rotors, pads, and different wheels & tires, but the wub-wub-wub is still there.
Are my wheel bearings shot as well?

I had sort of a knock noise too...
When I replaced the transfer case I replaced both axles, torsion bars (for ball joints) stabilizer links and pads and rotors-- sound still there finally realized it was the sway bar bushings--could push the sway bar back and forth now I am doing the wheel bearings too for the hell of it to have the front finished.
