Fuel Consumption (mpg)
25-27mpg mixed driving (mostly my 2 mile to work commute)
30mpg if I go on a long highway trip and keep it set at about 75mph.
2.5 Manual
Oh and before someone says I'm being too optimistic the mileage for the other vehicles I own.
TVR- 10-14mpg
CB175 60-65mpg
XJR for 200 miles was 17.5

With my X, I get about 16 mpg in town and cruising at 70-75 mph, I get about 25 mpg. Put your foot into the gas and you can easily see 4 mpg. Not that I have ever....... My car is a 3.0L motor with an auto tranny.
average 24 mpg in my 2.5 manual. Thats a mix of highway and local driving, and when I am on the highway I am crusing @ 70+ mph most of the time.

2002 2.5 auto - just completed a 1500 mile round trip, a lot of interstate but a good deal of crowded two lane and lots of construction delays, averaged 23.4 mpg. Lots of 80mph+ and WOT passing on hilly highways. Usual commute loop is 19.9mpg.
mine is manual, 22mpg UK or 18.5 US, my last car was doing 52mpg UK (44 US) its a big difference but worth it! The official figure was 30 UK so just had to ask! Thanks for all your replies guys
Mate, got same engine size 2.1 ltr manual 2003 SE In the UK
I get around 24-25 for my work commute. Which is around 9 miles each way. Aroad though loads of traffic lights so guess I would call it "round town" driving.

Made an 8 hour run across Western North Dakota and Eastern Montana yesterday, all with cruise control set at 75mph (120 kmph), average altitude 2500 ft. average temperature 92f (33C), ait-conditioner on the whole way, no load other than self and passenger, and averaged 24.56 mpg !!!
It's a 2002 2.5 X-Type auto with 55k on the odometer, and it did indeed purr like a kitten the entire run. I only romped on the pedal once - to 90 mph - to get out of a "bind" with a couple of oilfield and cattle-truck drivers, but used no more than a dime's worth of gas for that I am guessing.
Am pretty sure that I am running the original spark plugs, and should be able to bump up the milage a bit when replaced.
For some strange reason, there were a gob of Corvettes on the freeway yesterday. Just about each and every one gave an approving "nod" to the Jag, as did the State Trooper that threw me a glance - as he was writing up a ticket for some poor slob - that I read as "Gee, if I had just waited 5 minutes I could have written up a Jaguar!".
