Default fuel starved

I have a 2002 jaguar x type 2.5. Car drives fine but occasionally it acts as if it's fuel staved. Starts idles but no power. Car sets overnight starts and drives fine may not happen again for weeks. Fuel pressure at rail is 50lbs at startup under load between 40-50. I am suspecting an electrical connection. Have visually examined connection under back seat. Nothing note worthy. Any ideas wife is getting very uncomfortable taking car out.

Also fuel pressure rises to 90 psi after it idles for a minute. Drove with the gauge on and it drops back to 70#

I have a new fuel pump but would like to be sure I've checked everything prior to dropping the tank.
