Default gear locked?

hey guys.. i have automatic and it feels weird when It pass 3rd gear. RPM goes up to 2 on first and thrid gear ( up to 30mph) then after 3rd gear rpm barely moves before switch to 4th gear ( at 35mph).. im not sure if 4th gears locked or what.. and even when i slowing down car jerks at between 30-40mph range.. ( feels like you drop back gear from 4th to 3rd when you drive stick).. any idea whats wrong with it?

If you haven't replaced trans. fluid, do it now. Evacuate trans. and torque converter (approx. 9 qts.) and replace with Mobile 1 synthetic trans. fluid. If anyone messed around near trans., they may have disturbed trans. shift cable. This is fairly easy to adjust and directions can be found on both this and "Road Fly" forums. Also be sure that j-gate shifter is operating properly and the chassis to engine/trans electrical harnesses are completely plugged in. Happy New Year!

I failed to mention that there is a TCM (trans. control module), early "X"'s had a problem with module failing due to exposure to moisture. You had not mentioned if you recieved a message on the dash's message board?

thanks.. i havent seen any lights or mesage on the dash.. when i turn the car on amber light stay on for about 1-2 second ( stay just 1-2 second longer then other light signs) but it doesnt stay on.. so i assume its normal.. so i should get transmission fluid right away??

Default Trans. issue

You haven't mentioned the year and how many miles on your "X". I'd suggest a fluid change regardless. Evacuate existing 9 quarts then add same of Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. You can also disconnect the negative terminal from battery and touch it to the positive terminal for a minute to evacuate ECU program anomalies.
