Gearbox fault message
So I went out and started my car this morning and noticed a gearbox fault message on the display. I turned the car off, started again and proceeded on my way with no messages. Car is driven about 100 miles a day with no issues and I have had no cause for concern. Even after I restarted the car it rode and drove perfectly. I did the OEM scan to see if any dtc messages were present and the only ones were D900 and E510 that I believe have been there awhile. Any ideas on further testing I can do to mitigate a possible future issue? I am not sure I am comfortable chalking it up to a fluke but understand in the end that may be the case. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
I am getting the same intermittent message together with the engine heater coil flashing. Turn off - turn on and everything resets.
I had this four years ago and it was the EGR valve. My garage said lock up the transmission and give it a few miles at 3,500 revs and blow the valve clean.
That has seemed to reduce the frequency of the messages but the valve wuill need replacement again in due time

Random displays on start up and then clear on restart is probably a good indicator your battery is on its last legs. When you first start it is weak and when you restart it has come up a few volts. Have it load tested.
