It is not possible on X-Types. The vehicles modules are not programmable for that feature.

I never even knew there was such a feature like global close. I always feel flabbergasted with all the technology in the X-type.

I'm not a hermit or anything, but feel the more dependence on technology in a vehicle, the more it deters one from just enjoying the overall driving experience. IMO, the X-type is a very fun car to drive, it's just that all these gadgets and the constant warnings like "cold temperature outside" deter the driver from fully enjoying the driving experience.

There is an update reflash for the Instrument Pack to prevent the low temp warning coming on like that.

I read on the uk forums under a thread called something to the effect of "things I learned my car can do" and they talk abotu global close and only cers with certain vin have it. I believe someoen on the thread said that if you want to get it added it is possible but you have to get a jag tec to hook it up to the computer and program the car for it, also they spoke about global open and someone claimed they had it I think, but then again someone said its not avaliable its only avaliable on the high end jags.

I just had my '04 in for other work (minor) and they set the Global Close at no charge. There policy is if its in for other work and the computer is going to be hooked up anyway they will set any preference at no charge. If not there is a min charge for there time.

Cincinnati Jaguar, I have no affiliation with them other than they have always treated me well and I've not been ripped off....yet.

Rich, are you saying that they set the global close to work with your key fob or just by using the key in the door? My '03 works with the key in the door, but not with the key fob.

Default Glad I read this topic!

I read this topic a couple of nights ago; if I hadn't, I probably would never have discovered this cool feature of my X-Type! Mine is not enabled on the key fob (I had tried that before, as I have a friend who had an Acura with that feature), but the key-in-the-door works. Thanks!

Default Lol!

Very cool feature! I'll have to try it. I'm forever getting to work and getting out and locking it only to see I left a back window down.

I have a '01 2.5 Sport X-Type (UK spec)... mine has this feature. I just hold the lock button on the remote for a few seconds and the windows close.
