Greetings (non-start issue)
Greetings to all the members of this forum.
2004 X type 3.0
Coolant was leaking out and I read forums with the possibility that the water pump is most likely the cause. The advice was to remove the battery, battery box, remove a few bolts here and there to remove and replace. I removed my battery and battery box. I was going to use jumper cables to start and run the car so that I could see the potential leak. After hooking up the cables I went to start the car, click click click. I reassembled everything hooked the battery back up and still click click click. I tried hooking cables to it in hopes it was a low battery, click click click. Any advice on getting the thing started would be great!
Thanks to all.
Have a great day.

Welcome to the forum parforbob,
Sorry to hear about your non-start issue.
I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Centre section to X-Type section. This is the place for specific questions on your model.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and you vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice on posting to the forum.

parforbob, first off, welcome to the forums. I think you will find that we are an interesting group to be around and we will not only teach you a little about your car, but have fun in the process. But, we do ask one thing. We are a quirky bunch and we like to get to know one another like you will learn about us. So, stop by the New Member section and introduce yourself. You might be surprised as to what you will learn.
As for your problem. You are experiencing a common fault with the X-Type. You will need to get 2 new battery cables. These can be picked up at your local auto parts store (they are just generic battery cables) and then install them on your car. Your problem will be solved. The battery cables are known for developing high resistances in them, leading to what you are seeing.
If you have more questions, just let us know and don't be afraid to tell others what you have learned about your car.
