Default Hand Break cable Problem....

I have a Jaguar x-type 2004, manual trans. I believe the hand brake cable is really loose because it still will pull a bit but not what it used to. I am wondering how I can fix this problem because I would like to keep my car on without it roll away! Thank you

Dusted, I just had a similar problem with my 03 X. What I would tell you to do is to jack up one side of the car (far enough that you can crawl under the vehicle). What you want to do is to then set the e-brake as far as you can. When you look at where the cable comes out from the body, you will find a t-bracket there that splits the one cable from the handle to two (1 for each rear wheel). You can then look at the cables and figure out which one is not playing nice. In my case, one of the cable ends was not even touching the T-bracket. I attempted to move the cable by hand and it moved. So, I went to the affected wheel and found that the e-brake lever on that side had frozen. I tried to loosen it up, but to no avail. I ended up having to get a new caliper. Cost me $110 after the core refund through a local foreign auto parts store. Not too bad. Changing out the caliper is pretty easy. Just make sure to bleed the brakes.
