2004 Xtype 3.0L AWD
Low beam on driver side burnt out, when attempting to replace the bulb discovered that the bulb had melted into the socket. Ordered the 2 wire socket replacement and after installing it the whole headlight assembly quit working. Have checked fuses and wires but I am sure I have overlooked something. The passenger side is working properly. Any assistance I can get with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Jax, if you are getting no lights to light in the headlight assembly, then your problem is the black ground wire in the plug going to the headlight assembly. If you remove the plug, you should check the pins for discoloration. If they are dark/rusty, then gently scrape them to get them back to silver. After that, odds are you will need to access the internals of the headlight assembly for the black wire and see if that got damaged.

I had the same socket problem with my '04 - bulb was fused to it. I found pack of three sockets on Amazon for $10 and spliced one in. I believe the brown wire was ground. No problems after that. Check your adjusters as they're probably bad. Right side cover clip is tough to get to. I found long screwdriver through hole pictured does the trick.
