Default headlight question- spring location

Went to replace the low beam in my wifes x last night and there was a spring lying in the back cover. Couldn't see an obvious spot for where it should go. Checked the drivers side and no spring there at all. I'm assuming the spring holds the bulb housing from vibrating and that would explain why I'm replacing bulbs fairly often. First time on the pass side but the drivers side had been done 5 or so times in the past 5 years. Looked at the parts diagram to find where it goes and it doesn't show it. Can anybody explain where it goes and give me a part number so I can order on for the drivers side too.

The springs clip in at the point the bulbs go in and they go down over the back of the bulbs to hold them in place. Sorry no pics, dont loose them

Brutal,
It isn't the spring clip but rather a spring (about an inch of spring and then another .5" of length in the ends). Looks more like a weaker version of a spring that would go on a motorcycle kick stand. Has me completely stumped.

Thanks!

There are no springs inside the headlight units.

Have you checked the adjusters as theses are a weak point and will cause the reflectors to move around if broken.

Now if I had checked adjusters would I be posting here. LOL Not sure what refelctors you're talking about as these are just the standard halogen bulbs and never noticed anthing else in there except for the dead spider that has been there as long as we've had the car.

Found nothing that seemed to be missing anywhere around there but like I said the spring was inside of the rear cover. Had if fallen off I don't how it would have gotten in there as it is somewhat sealed.

The reflector is the piece the bulb goes into, it's a silver bowl type thing to reflect the light in front of the car.

The adjusters attach to this to alter where the beam goes.

No, There are no springs in the headlight units.

It is the adjusters that holds them together hence when they break the reflectors are free to move around.

The spring you have found is a mystery, I can only think that a previous owner bodged that in there because of a broken adjuster.
