Default Headlights for '04 X-Type

I did a search and nothing jumped out at me, but anybody who's familiar with the headlights for the '04 X-type know of or have any links for some decent headlights for the money? When they went out last, I replaced them with some cheapies that aren't doing the trick.

I checked and it looks like I don't have HID, so I think we're looking at LED only. Not looking for anything super special, but I would like to see the road when it's dark! :-)

Thanks!

On a side note, I bought the Mina mesh grille and it, while it was more of a pain to install than I expected, it looks great. Highly recommend.

Schlim, some members have found that the dealership bulbs seem to be built a little stronger and will last longer. I know they cost more, but are you wanting to be replacing bulbs every 6 months or so. If you need more help, let me know, I am an hour south of you in California, MD.

Hi,

Why don't you switch to HID for Dips in particular.

Lights on X type are crap, recently bought a set of Hids for dips, major difference, not that difficult to fit.highly recommend.

Thanks everybody! I thought about going HID, but it's not really a high priority for me. I've put my "takes more than a couple minutes" effort into the grill and making the turn signal covers clear (instead of the red/orange) to mesh better with the chrome.

Think I'm gonna go with the Amazon ones.

Schlim, if you want to do HIDs, let me know. I have done a few members vehicles. IT is easier than you think. I can help you out and get you up to speed. Up to you.

Schlim, cant help but chime in here. Just this afternoon I helped a friend of mine install a 6000k 35w hid kit he purchased off amazon for his toyota van. Not great results. Highly obvious flicker and it took a few toggles of the lights to get one ballast to light up (pos relay needed). I actually purchased a conversion kit about 3 weeks ago off of ebay. Did a lot of research and for many reasons this is the kit I choose. Boiled down to the mix of "German engineering" and the best value for me.

Can Bus H1 6000K Germany Asic Chip Hylux Xenon HID Conversion Kit | eBay

I feel like I was able to get away will a very neat and easy install as I did not remove the bumper cover. Only the battery and battery box on the drivers side. There is a vapor hose that runs along the bottom of the battery box, it just slides out. The passenger side is trickier with the limited access. I was able to re-install the new bulb by patiently maneuvering it back into the housing and clipping it in with one hand while holding the rear housing with the other. I only advise attempting this method if you are familiar with the metal retaining clip and have very long fingers. Has to be done by feel. Thought I would try it before removing the bumper cover. Have not has one issue with the bulbs or ballasts. Great light output and color. Good bang for buck upgrade. Thinking about hids all around.
