Default Help ac issues

I had the AC charged - it was fine for a couple days and now blowing warm. I brought it to the dealership - they told me there was a leak in the AC compressor and the low pressure port and i need to replace both. I know some of the refrigirant you buy at auto stores can fix some leaks. Will it fix compressor leaks? I dont want to spend $1900 to fix this. Are there any other options? Is replacing a compressor something someone with limited repair skills do - ie ME? Thanks for your help!!!

regardless whether or not you can source a compressor from the scrap yard (really the only other place to get one besides a dealer). The job in itself is pretty extensive. You will have to drop the RF corner of the sub-frame in order to get it out. The dealer is quoting labor based on removing entire sub-frame.... doesn't need to be done. The you have to recharge the system.... not cheap. GL with what ever route you take. The good thing about haveing the dealer do it, is if the compressor and the valve don't fix it. They will more than likely eat the work
