Default Her X-Type is all wet! - A neophyte's first impression...

Been raining all day here in Lovely Louisiana...

Sometimes it rained gently, but mostly with gusto. Had to go out this afternoon and she let me use "her" car. Got caught in a virtual deluge on the
expressway, with vision so impaired that I could see but a few car-lengths ahead.

Ownership of this sweetie being only a couple of months old, I'd never driven the car in heavy rain. What a revelation!...
No loss of traction. No feeling of insecurity. Not even a nagging thought that I might consider slowing down. Even when
entering areas of shallow standing water the handling was sure and precise.

Why didn't we buy one of these ten years ago?

Oh, yeah... We couldn't have afforded it.

I was caught in a really bad rain storm on the highway on Sunday, the worst since I got my Jag, and I have to say I also felt a huge amount of confidence. A lot of cars were pulling off to the side or dropping their speed and putting on their hazards. Not me, I maintained about 65 the whole time and just kept cruising.

Interested to see how she handles in snow.

Yes, I love mine in the rain. The grip is awesome.

In heavy rain, at about 70mph, on what you call a highway I guess and we call a motorway :-) the car honestly feels as if it hunkers down on its rear haunches and just beds itself down.. All my previous cars (almost all front wheel drive) all felt too light in heavy rain the exact opposite of this car. Saying that the XJ previously hated rain lol.. but as with all rear wheel drive cars was fun :-) *but* for me this makes the x-type *the* car to look after your family when out in heavy rain.. that feeling of security trusting the car to not do anything daft is worth every penny spent on her :-)

Default Bad weather!

Utah likes to freeze over and snow in the winter. I can honestly state that I have never had a car get about so well in crummy weather. The popular four wheel vehicles don't handle our nasty roads as well as my old X type.

I have driven my x type on the beaches of Corolla, NC. Every other vehicle was a massive 4x4. People were shocked the jag made it thru the sand dunes! But I have pictures to prove it
