Default Hose in trunk

Question guys. 2002 US model in the trunk behind the right side carpet panel is a black rubber hose that comes from around the rear deck “ where speakers normally are “ and goes down to a square shaped rubber grommet and goes out to behind the bumper cover. Is this a sun roof drain or what ? Mine had a big kink in it which I fixed but was wondering what it was even for. If it is a sunroof drain why is it going to the back of the car when usually those always goes to the front of cars behind the front wheels

Tony, if I remember right, there are drains in both the front and back of the sunroof in the case that the car is parked at an angle up or down. This allows the sunroof to drain in any position, not just with the car pointing donwhill.

Oh ok. I have had the car apart that far to notice any other drains and I’d never seen a sunroof drain to the rear before and also hadn’t had any problems with it draining. I was putting a new gas door on it and noticed that 90° kink and pulled the hose out from the grommet and heated the kink up with a heat gun and got the kink out and let it cool then put it back in. So one problem fixed before it started causing problems

The sunroofs in Jaguars, every Jaguar with a sunroof, from the Series III XJ sedans of the 80's onwards, have always had front and rear drains. How could you design a sunroof aperture without drains front and rear?

I’ve had several different cars thru the years and have never had one with front and rear drains. A couple Fords, Chevys and Toyota’s and even a Mazda all only had the front ones. Also this weekend I’ll be working on my daughters car which is a Dodge Caliber and it too only has front ones and their stopped up. This Jag is a first for me with front and rears and that’s why I asked the question in case the hose actually went to something else
