Default I said i would never ever do it but i bought an xtype

Well some of you know my opinion on the X, least expensive Jaguar to buy, most expensive many times to own. But I couldnt pass up a 02 w185k on the clock from a long time customer for $1500. Im giving it to my oldest 28yr old daughter. actually she will pay in payments for the car, Ill pay for and do all the repairs needed to get in my kind of acceptable shape. Need susepnsion rebuilt front and rear, weld sway bar bracket in the rear. couple tires, alignment 2 new headlights(repair2 clear ones I already have and replaced the original old coolant hoses that are leaking. and fix the rf ABS. oh and new drivers door latch so all the door will lock. Ive been telling the owner to sell it because she cannot afford the repairs it really needs and just get a newer car. She finally agreed for Christmas she would and did. I just asked that she let me know what she was gonna get for it and I MIGHT consider it for my oldest. She said Carmax offered her $1500 and at first I was noway, Im not gonna step off in a X and its issues. But I know the car, what it needs, can do everything, and in the right price range for her. So After church tonight she'll get the keys. I told her the car is over for me to fix and she calle dit a hoopty...lol change her mind when she finds out its hers....beats walking and olny has a small dent in the hood

I said the same thing about the S-Type when it came out in late 1999. I bought a 2001 4.0 in 2003 for 'the right price' so I could not pass it up either. I sold it a year later and bought a New 2004 New Beetle TDI for the wife to drive 140 miles round-trip to work and back.

I might never buy an X-Type, but never say never..........

The labor and parts to fix the mentioned would have been close to the $1500 you paid, luckily pops is the Stand Up kinda guy, looking out for the kids.
I applaud ya for buying your nemesis and seeing past it all just for the comfort of your daughter.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

Nice! Let us know what her reaction was when you gave it to her. Am curious to know how much her tune changed.
