Good evening,

Can anyone tell me why my car (02, 3.0 SE) won't start if I unplug the heater control panel. Same if I unplug the clock cluster although that makes a bit of sense as there is probably a security consideration with the mileage info if that is stored locally. But the heater controls....what's all that about?

And are there any other sneaky gotchas that might stop it starting or put it into limp mode if something is disconnected. I did read something about headlights needing to be connected or it won't start, some safety feature stopping us driving in the dark without lights. Killjoys!!

Thanks,

X's have a myriad of module checks (including the CCM) before it will allow a start.
Here is a PATS system diagnostic flow chart for the PATS system =
