Default intake seal

Hi all,
I bought my '03 2.5 x-type last Sept. and after a couple of intermittment chugging fits and the "cruise not available" message popping up I discoverd a failed crankcase breather hose on top of the engine. I replaced it with some extra hose I had, and after reading the forum I can see that it should be sheathed in some heat protection. Anyway, has anyone compiled a list of vacuum related parts to replace when you buy one of these fine machines with 70,000 miles on it? Thanks,
-Scott

sjanas, there are 3 parts that you need to worry about with these cars as it pertains to vacuum issues (which will cause all sorts of issues). You got 1 of them, the breather hose. The other one that is very common is the IMT valve o-rings (Intake Manifold Tuning=IMT). These are located on the left side of the motor if you open up the hood and have your knees at the front bumper. Look on the very top of the motor at the intake, they are there on the left. They are hidden under the black round pieces (the tuning valves). Easy to replace.

The final part that seems to give a lot of people headaches is the vacuum line running between the intake and the brake booster. The check valve failed or the line develops a crack in it.

Luckily, all of these problems are easy to fix.
