Default Jaguar Codes

Everyone talks about "jaguar codes" when something goes wrong with their cars. Is this something that you need a special reader for, or doe the codes show up on the dashboard?

Bus driver, yes, there are codes that can be accessed by both a separate reader or by using the instrument cluster.

The code reader will give you a direct read out of the 5 digit code (P and 4 numbers unless you have a high end reader, then you have a letter and 4 numbers). You can then look up the code and it will give you a hint of what is going on.

You can also access the codes via the instrument cluster by putting the cluster into the maintenance mode. From there, you have to hit the reset button a few times to scroll through the menu to get to the code section (something like 10 pushes). From there you will have a hexadecimal number to play with. This will need to be converted over to a 5 digit number to obtain the code (the first number is the only one that is coded hexadecimal which will then give you a two digit number). From there you can research the code and go from there.
