Default Key fob problem

Hi a little help please.
The unlock button on my fob has got awkward to use. used to open the car with a light touch of the button. It still will open but needs many hard presses.
Any suggestions please? I have replaced the battery and cleaned the faces of the little switches with switch cleaner.
Thanks.

Probably the simplest thing to do is get a new fob.

Thanks I had seen that but those tiny micro switches are far too small for a mere mortal to solder on.

I would be too lazy to do that. You can buy a replacement fob for like $25. A couple minutes to pair it and you are good to go. But, everyone is differernt.

Default Key fob

Fixed it!
I bought a key fob "genuine Jag" from a breaker on EBay. He sells fobs from cars he is breaking but only the ones which have been second keys and possibly not ever used. Cost me £40
Reprogrammed my old fob and this new one using the ignition click method and Bingo it all works. I will now attempt to repair my old key fob.

What scared me was my local auto key guy said he could not help as he did not have the software to programme a new fob for a facelift Jag. AND NO OTHER WAY WOULD WORK. he has been in business many years on auto keys, why I wonder is he turning down trade?
