Hi there, I recently bought a 2004 Jaguar X-Type Estate and few of the windows were broken when I got it. This is the North American model ie; LHD (Left Hand Drive).

So far, I have only been successful in finding, purchasing and receiving the rear right passenger door glass.

The glass that I now am looking for is the rear right quarter glass and the tailgate glass.

I have been doing plenty of searching locally and on the Internet. I had found a tailgate with the glass still on it from a wrecker in the UK, but they wouldn’t send it due to the tailgate being “too heavy” to send across seas to Canada.
I had found another piece of glass from the tailgate that was from a separate wrecker which was also in the UK, but they wouldn’t ship it to Canada either. This section of glass was separated from the tailgate. Both of these ads were on eBay.

Anyways, I’m just posting this with the hope that someone could help me out with finding some glass for this 2004 Jaguar X-type Estate.

I can’t help with the glass but your note is going to give me nightmares (I have a 2005 Sportwagon)….how do you think all that glass got broken?

This model was rare in Canada despite sales starting with the 2004 model (US models began with the 2005 model year), so while it is worthwhile checking with wrecking lots, you might not have much luck. Surely a UK supplier could be persuaded?

 

Perhaps try reaching out to member Dr dome as he is parting out X-types. Not sure if he has any estates but no harm asking.
He is in Pennsylvania so at least it is a possible road freight option.

 

The North American variant of the Estate was somewhat different from the UK and World variants, but the majority of parts are compatible. Rear glass is one of those parts, as far as I can tell.

Thus, while only 1605 of the NA model were built, there may be rear glass still available from 3rd party glass shops/distributors in other parts of the world.

Before looking that far, check big glass-shop chains in Canada and the US, they stocked a bunch of these when the model was being imported (nobody expected the model to be discontinued so quickly), so there may still be some floating around. They may even be able to get them from UK/Europe affiliates.

Also check with local wrecking yards. They can put out a want on their support networks.

 

I have had some luck making my own shipping arrangements. Talk to the companies who ship cars over as they may be able to help.
