Loss of power
If you don't mind the wait, perhaps try this option.....

Bloody hell, now the fuel pump needs replacing!
$1200 plus labour at $150 an hour, min 4 hours!!!!
Anyone know where I can get a fuel pump cheaper? For 04 X Type 2.1L petrol.
Thanks,
Mike.

If the fuel gauge sender unit is still OK and the plastics are good, the only concern might be the fuel pressure valve.
If you want to take the punt, you might look at just trying to replace the actual fuel pump/motor assembly that is held within the fuel pump module.
In that case you might want to explore something like this aftermarket motor/pump unit to see if you can successfully just renew the actual pump.

Dropping the tank is not particularly hard on our FWD versions as there is no drive shaft to remove if you need to drop the tank at all.
If you lift the rear seat bottom out, there is a big bung that you can remove to get to the large threaded retainer that locks down the fuel pump assembly.
The fuel line clips can be pretty fragile, so be careful releasing the red and white clips....hard (nigh on impossible) to find replacements.
Make sure you refit the big O ring properly as it can leak giving you evap errors down the track.

Thanks Mark,
It seems he has to drop the tank as the holes under the rear seat don't line up and he is unwilling to cut a hole in the floor.
So I thought it best to go with the whole fuel pump assembly.
Fingers crossed this will be the end of the Jags problems for a few years.
Thanks again for your help.
