This is a rebiilder, says you need to replace heater control valve before reinstalling (way more common failure cause, in fact almost a given on S types) that causes the a/c module failure.
Try the second test in this video to see if it works on your non-NAV unit. With NAV there are not physical buttons to try (I tried on mine, even touch screen doesn't do it).
aznewsh, there are 2 different A/C modules. One for cars with navigation, one for those without navigation. Things are wired up a little different between the two modules. Also, the modules are located in different locations in the car. I would start with doing some calling around to your local recyclers and seeing if you can find any modules that way. I would then look at a site called Car-Part.com as they are a US wide recycler and have their fingers into what every recycler in the US has on hand. If they can't get it, then it doesn't exist. What you will pay going through them is questionable as Car-Parts.com is simply a middle man and you are paying what the local yard is wanting for said item. Some are reasonable, some think they have gold because is says Jaguar.
For reference, the above part number can be had from OEM Jaguar, Land Rover and BMW Rplacement Parts for $779 plus S&H, brand new. If you give Gaudin Jaguar a call, they should be able to beat that. I have used both places and got good service from both.
knowing about the can bus code...im with thermo....
climate control module
i would buy that $100 one on ebay....unless you are prepared to have a dealer diagnose it ....which alone would cost more than $100.
"most" places do not allow returns on electrical parts which turned out to be not needed through incorrect diagnosis, so $700+ may be a large risk
Oh just noticed in a previous thread that P1699 is related to CAN bus failure, so it looks like your suspicions were correct but I will wait for you to verify first.
Could you also verify that the part I posted is the correct part or if not what is?
seems there may be other part numbers which link to the same module.
though they "may" be specifically year related.
heres one for $64.83 from a 2005 model.
externally its the same but the donor car had the touchscreen nav https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F312129913201
This is so confusing, the same part seems to have about 10 different part numbers, Thermo states that the nav ones are different which makes sense so I just got to figure out a used one that comes off a non nav, the one you linked above has nav so won't work...I think!
If I can find a used one off a non nav for these prices I will order it.
Tried the Car-Parts.com website and when I fill out the search like this:
the $98 one may be from a non nav
the $474 one may be for a non nav,
according to the diagram in the listing it is non nav.
(i wrote to them both to ask)
as your going to replace yours anyway, why not take it out now and see what part number it has?
Thermo...how sure are you that nav installed makes a difference?....have you compared the circuits?
iownme, looking at the diagrams, the modules may be the same unit, but what I think the difference is in the programming and what functions are enabled and not enabled. Specifically, the non-nav module takes inputs from the dial panel and are inputted to the ACCM module via IP39 plug. IN contradiction to this, the Nav version transmits the data to the ACCM module via the CAN Bus to then send the commands out to the blower motor. This leads to a another difference. There are also more sensors with the NAV version and could possibly lead to errors being seen because the NAV version would be expecting to see them and they won't be there (ie, in car temp sensor, solar sensor, and ambient temp sensor).
There is also this note on the drawing for the ACCM:
NOTE:
Vehicles without Navigation “Touch Screen” – the A/CCM
incorporates the Control Panel for the Climate Control System.
Vehicles with Navigation “Touch Screen” – The A/CCM is remotely
mounted on the Climate Control Unit. Driver control inputs are
received via Network communication.
that makes sense and u just solved a question i had....(and the whole nav/non nav riddle)
i just went out to my 04 parts (non nav) car and took out the stereo/a/c controls to see what part number my ccm had.....there is no seperate ccm there....it has the two same black and white connectors in the back of the ac control panel as the seperate ccm's have, which had me wondering where the ccm actually was!.
so he needs to buy the actual control panel, not the seperate ccm which dell and i have been searching for.
new ebay links coming soon ...haha
you're welcome
8 eyes are better than 2!
oh yeah...as for your P1111 code....you want to have that, that means all is good and your vehicle monitors are set and you would pass an inspection for that
that will change to a P1000 if you disconnect the battery or reset a check engine light, it will revert back to P1111 when all your monitors have completed their drive cycles.
plenty of ash trays on ebay ;@)
