Default Model Year Differences

My understanding is that there were changes made between the 2004 and 2005 model years with the engine emission system. Does anyone know what these changes are and how they affect intake manifold gasket sets? When I look up these sets, whatever website I'm on informs me that they don't fit the 2005 model year. Apparently the throttle bodies are also different. Any help greatly appreciated.

A quick look at SNG Barratt and Jaguar Classic both show the throttle body is based on VIN but defaults to being the same part number across all model for 2.5 and 3.0 liter. The intake upper and lower gaskets are the same for all vin's of 2.5 and 3.0 engines. I know of only a couple of major changes to the x-type. after April 2004 they underwent a major revision of the electrical system and during different model years the transfer case was modified.

Thanks Vern. I was getting a little crazy trying to buy intake manifold gaskets which, I assumed, were likely the same for all of the X-Types. For whatever reason, every site I tried said that it would not fit my 2005 Sport. I even tried changing the year to 2002 or 2006 with the same result. Shows what happens when we get too dependent on the web for accurate information.

For what it's worth I would go to one of the forum sponsors and deal direct by phone. SNG Barratt has excellent customer service as does Jagbits. Plus if you let them know you are a forum member they give you a discount.

Well, it turns out there is a difference between (I believe) 2002-2004 and 2005 on up with the lower intake manifold gaskets. In any case, two different shapes are shown, only one of which is compatible with my car. I ordered the correct (?) ones from Amazon (easy return policy) and I'll have them by the end of next week. Always an adventure.....
