Cool Most Expensive Repair to Date

Thought I'd share what is the second and most expensive X-Type repair yet. Heading home from work last week suddenly noticed that the engine was about to shut off. Clutched and went down to lower gear to no avail. So I quickly pulled over on the interstate. All kinds of lights were going off. I'm assuming the cat went into limp mode. While waiting for the tow truck I thought of what it could be - clutch, fuel pump or alternator. The local mechanic told me it was the fuel pump. Needed the car asap so the only option for the part was the dealership at $625. Needless to say part plus 5 hours of labor equals $1,302 out the door. Before this the most expensive had been the pan gasket replacement at $1,100. These are expensive girls to maintain, but I just can't see myself of replacing my ebony beauty. Thought I'd also share this short Youtube video by crazy Scotty Kilmer. Enjoy.

Did dealership repair include a new fuel filter? False Economy if that wasn't done.

My big repair was a left front half shaft at $236 parts and labor.

Default fuel pump

seems rather expensive, I changed mine for £50 and about 4 hours work.

People like Scotty love to bash Jaguars over an expensive repair. What car doesn't have its fuel pump inside the gas tank nowadays? -and how many have an access panel to get to it? My Chevy truck, you have to remove the bed to get to it, or else cut a hole. Most modern cars would cost around $1000.00 unless you cut an access hole somewhere. My wife's Hyundai has a neat little access panel under the back seat. Piece of cake -but what would you rather drive, a Hyundai or a Jag? My most expensive repair was $1500.00 for a new ac compressor + associated parts.
