Nav module or reader is what you insert the Nav disc into in the trunk RipsJag

no the navigation mudule in the trunk where you insert the disc into was at fault
had an internal failure therefore there was nocomunication between the navigation screen and the navigation module in the trunk

Oh, that makes sense. thanks for clarifying that ibjags.

I have a 2002 x-type with navigation and sometimes, the screen is lit up properly but will not recognize when I press the screen. Therefore the screen works fine visually but can't be used as a touchscreen since it will not recognize the pressure from my finger. It only happens about 5 percent of the time but it always happens when I need the navi and can't use it? any ideas? usually it will work after I drive around for awhile.

Add me to the list. I first notice the A/C temperature LCD start cycling between 50 and 51. At this point, the actual A/C seems to stop blowing cold air and now blows warm air. Then I notice the touch screen is frozen. I can only control the radio via the steering wheel. Occasionally the screen will display "communication failure: See authorized dealership". Shutting the car down does not always reboot it. Even leaving the car alone for a couple of days. Some days I can drive for hours and it won't happen. Some days just minutes into the drive. It seems so random.

I heard from one guy that I may need to replace the battery. Is that nonsense? Or is it the touch screen? Or this Nav module posted in this thread?
