Default Need Some Guidance

Hi im new to th forum but i have a 2005 Jaguar X-Type. My check engine light has been on since 2013. The computer at autozone was putting out alot of codes but after getting the plugs changed and a tune up most of them went away. I had a Mass Air Flow sensor code and a catalytic converter code. I bought a MAFS and started putting non ethnol gas in my car and the check engine light went off for about a day. This was about 2mnths ago. Its still on and i got th codes checked today and the MAFS code is back and the catalytic converter code along with about 3 other codes. Also when turning or gearing down to stop or make a turn the car jumps really hard when you press on the gas to accelerate. Ive heard some people call this the "LURCH" problem is anyone familiar with this

In order to be helpful we would need the codes. Please post the numbers so we can take a look at them and be able to advise.

+1 on needing to see what the reported OBD codes are so you can get some help. Regarding the lurching problem, is one direction more noticeable than the other? Any clunking/clicking associated with it? There are two CV joints on each front axle; you could have one or more bad ones..

SHivs, I would first start with cleaning the MAF sensor. It may be that it is simply dirty and not able to properly measure the air flow. This will cause faults to show up and it will also cause the CATS to throw codes too. This will also affect how the motor will work on acceleration and deceleration.

Like the others have said, the codes can give us a lot of information that can be very useful.

hlgeorge, if there is a new MAF sensor in the car, then that really only leaves a problem with the wiring which can be possible. The most likely place for that to occur is in the pocket opening right in front of the brake booster. Heard of many a car have problem with the wiring in that area.
