Never owned a jag but have a chance to pick one up today
A friend took his 2002 Jaguar x-type 3.0 auto 161k miles to a dealer and they offered him $1700 for it. I can buy it for the same price but my major concerns are that the A/C compressor is definitely leaking and will need replacement soon as well as the check engine light being lit with codes p0302, p0303, p0304, p0305, p0306, P1316, P0430, P1000. I am competent mechanically (several engine/trans swaps etc) as long as I have google and this car seems like a steal but I'm worried about long term reliability and if it will be a money pit.
I love the car itself runs great, dark grey exterior and overall a very nice car especially for the money. The needed repairs and the questionable reliability issues do worry me though.
What do you guys think? Thanks

Jagma, for the price, I would atleast give it a shot. Granted, the misfires are more than likely caused by an old battery (these cars are sensitive to older batteries with lower capacity). From there, see what you have.
I don't think you will be sorry getting the car. Just don't expect something to get light to light and bouncing off the red line all the time. If you are looking for that, this car is going to be very expensive to fix as you will be going through transfer cases left and right and that will get costly.
