Default New key

I have a 2003 X Type. The battery is dead in the key. Went to Elmhurst Jaguar and was told that you can not buy a replacement battery you have to buy a new key $225. and have it programed another fee.
Does anyone know where I can get a new key at a resonable price?

I think what they are trying to tell you is that the battery is almost never the problem. I've replaced hundreds of batteries and I don't think that it has ever worked.

Anyway, if you'd like to try it's a standard cr2032 remote battery.

You have to seperate the two halves of the key first. Then, pop open the remote, then finally unscrew the circuit board to get to the battery.

Thanks

Also try to reprogram the remote... the procedure is searchable here...

Jimmy's probably right. Go to this thread and look at the 1st post under the 'Interior' threads. Programming the key fob is so easy it's rediculous that people charge for that and it's probably your problem. Further down is the link for changing the battery.
