Hello to all here.

I've read these forums for many years, waiting for the chance to pick up an X Type when the right deal came along.

A 2004 X Type just came in on trade at our local Lexus store. Original senior owner, with all maintenance stamps up to date from the selling Jaguar dealer.

I live up in central Ontario (snowbelt cottage country), and only drive about
3k per year. I have a Miata for summer use, and a low mile Accord for long
drives. Hopefully, this baby Jaguar will serve my purposes quite well.

One small issue, which the Lexus store will fix when I come back next week.
There is a constant buzz beside the steering wheel, coming from behind the
small 1" square vent window. I'm guessing the aspirator fan hide back there, used for the auto temp control. It sounds like a parasitic power draw, constantly
buzzing, even long after you exit the vehicle. Using the search function, it
would appear to be the temp sensor fan. But, no one seems to have my issue, where the darn thing never, ever shuts off.
I just walked out to my car, windows down, and that little fan is happily buzzing away. Interesting, in that it doesn't seem to draw enough power to
be a problem?

Hope to learn much here, and possibly contribute whenever possible.
I've used the search function extensively, and will see about changing the
transfer case fluid right away.

Appreciate the advice.
I've been lurking for about 5 years now, and have spent quite a bit of time reading the stickies.

Funny, everyone thinks I'm insane for buying an old Jaguar.
I don't share their disdain. I have an independent Jag mechanic 25 minutes away, this
car is not my daily driver, and if the car becomes a money pit, I'll pay for the repairs
and sell it.

I quite enjoy driving something a bit unique, knowing the purchase price was relatively
cheap.

Oops, I can't edit my posts yet.

The little aspirator fan for auto temp resolved itself. When you open the door, it automatically turns on. I left the car parked for an hour, leaned through the open window, and the fan finally turned itself off

tcbted, ironically, how you describe the fan working is how all of our cars work. If you drive the car and then stop. You can turn off the motor and sit in the driver's seat for about 5 minutes. You will hear the fan stop. It is just how Jaguar programmed that little fan. I do not understand why, but none of us have any issues with it hurting the car with how it runs. So, enjoy the new kitty and occassionally let the kitty stretch its legs. I think you will find the car being more of a daily driver, especially during the winters. The X-Type is a very sure footed kitty in the snow. Much better than you Accord could ever think of being.

Thanks to all for the nice sense of community.

Come winter, I may invest in a set of winter rims and dedicated snow tires.
It would really give the Jag a chance to shine.

I just kicked the Miata out of the garage ... my maple trees were shedding too much
sap and garbage over the Jag's finish .... a sure sign that I'm bonding with the car
