new owner of a 2002 jaguar x-type
this is my first jaguar and it is a 3.0 V6 and i bought knowing there was tranny problems and i was wondering if i could put the jacto transmission from the 2003 mazda 6 into my jaguar, i dont know much about transmission swaps or anything like that but the results i am seeing is they have the same gearing ration and wonder if i just need to swap electrical connectors between the transmissions, any help helps and if i have to buy a jaguar transmission i will but i really dont want to.
Mazda 6 is front wheel drive only, whereas your Jaguar 3.0L is all wheel drive, so the transmissions will be different to support the additional output to the transfer case.
Probably pay to investigate your Jag transmission further to ascertain the actual problem.

i picked it up from a transmission shop today and they told me that it was the output shaft speed sensor and quoted me over 4 grand to get it replaced, and when i looked for the part i couldn't find it so i am looking into used transmissions to replace it myself and possibly rebuild it later with better friction plates and steels i am just looking for something that might work that isn't the jag tranny, thank you for the information on the mazda tranny the place i was looking at didn't say the it was fwd only.
Shark, I attached 2 PDFs, which would be of interest for you:
1.) The TB to remove the tranny, in case that's what you'll go for. I have done it a few times meanwhile, and it's a job and a half...
There are many obstacles, but I see as the worst ones about 2 or 3 specific bolts, which you need to remove on the way to get the TC (transfer case) out to start with, and those bolt are installed in a way, which makes them near impossible to remove. Apart from crating some kind of tool to get to those bolts, you need to furthermore build yourself that special tool mentioned in illustration No. 18. Also, you need to come up with some kind of special jack to remove the TC and the tranny (they are both being removed from underneath). I used a 2 ton car jack on which I firmly mounted a platform.
The manual for the Jatco JF506E for all versions, incl. the one used for Mazda 6. (Note: It's Jatco, not Jacto). This document also points out differences between the Jaguar and the Mazda version. See for yourself, if this could work out or not.
I actually do not believe that the tranny for the X-Type 2.1L (=front wheel drive only) and the tranny for 2.5L and 3.0L X-Type (both AWD) are any different - the only difference being that the right output of the tranny in the 2.1L goes straight to the right wheel, while for the 2.5L and 3.0L it goes to the TC before a short half-axle continues on to the right wheel.
