Default New-style Airbag Attachment

OK, so I have an immaculate wood-and-leather wheel with radio and cruise controls, and a perfectly color-matched airbag for it.

I'm trying to figure out what holds this airbag to the wheel, and I am sure that I have figured it out... and the all-important part is missing from my airbag!

In the steering wheel, there are a series of clips that match perfectly a series of openings on the back of the airbag assembly. A few minutes of head-scratching and the answer was obvious: there is a formed rod, likely steel, the fits through a series of channels and holes on the back of the bag. The clips on the steering wheel wrap around these, securely fastening the bag to the wheel.

I have emailed the bag supplier, but I don't hold out much hope.

Does someone have a newer-style bag that can snap a pic and/or mic the rod for me? It is pretty obvious that I'm going to need to roll my own replacement, and if I can see how it is put together, ther task will be easier!

All will become a lot less muddy.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm missing.

Looks to be 3/32", the 1/8" I have here is too big. I made a template out of raw copper wire, but even if I tempered it, that would be too soft.

I'm thinking that it looks like mild steel, I can probably bend one up with my tubing benders ans some 3/32 mild steel welding rod...I hope...
