Default no heat issues

I have asked about the no heat in my 02 X Type and have had some advice, but not time to do anything about it. Last night it was in the 20's and as usual I am freezing coming home for work. I turned the blower totally off and in 5 minutes the car was warm. There was warm air coming out of the vents, untill I turned the fan back on then, cold air. What does this tell us about the problem?
Thanks for any ideas, Last monday I was going to work on it but it was bitter cold out. I am off again Monday and the temp will be in the 40 degree range so I can work on it.

The Americans are not allowed Diesel cars ----The US government is run by Gasoline companies & they have the last say . Plus that any increase in US diesel usage would entail Gas companies building new Diesel refineries & they would have to refine US diesel down to the very high standards that we in UK /Europe expect . On top of which , if you think gas Jaguars are unreliable you need to try owning a Diesel Jaguar !!

Not sure where you got that idea about diesels not being allowed by the government and because of the oil companies, but it is not correct. Diesel cars ARE available in the US. It's just that they are not as popular here as in other parts of the world, so some manufacturers do not offer them. Jaguar just decided not to offer the diesel X here. No conspiracy.

thanks for the reply, it is a gas model. the temperature guage shows it is warming as it should. The antifreeze is correct and full. The thing I don't understand is why if I turn the blower fans down to 0 or at the most 3 or 4 why do I have warm air blowing. Its not hot air but is enough to warm the car. I did the battery disconnect, and have checked the fuses, and all looks good. Any ideas.

I would suggest that your thermostat for the engine is stuck open. mine had the same issues until I replaced it. now it blows hot when on full blower. if you ars in a warm area it won't show up much. after a mile maybe 2, it should be at halfway mark on gauge.

Thank you for that advice. I am going to change that today. It does warm half way on the guage wich is normal. It is in th 20 degree range here so I do need heat in the mornings.

Oooo, that's not gonna grow back any time soon... ;-)

I actually think our Government is run by the Archer Daniel Midlands Corp. and the corn-lobby. That's why we're waste'n all that good corn liquor in our gas tanks.

But really, diesel engines had problems passing US emissions standards, until lately, in a lot of States, plus petrol engines were just to be more flexible operationally.
