no way!!!! that can't do what everyone says it does!
ok, this has been bothering me for the past few days. I don't remember what post i saw it in but, someone said that the slots near the security light near the shifter is a coin holder. It can't be...... i have been sick in bed for 3 days and this bothered me so much i got up and walked outside (it is cold as s**t out i found out as well) and went to the car to look for myself. I took some change with me. It can only hold 3 quarters at best. what are you going to do with that? i looked in the owers manual and don't see anything there..... is it really a change holder? i also think that having 3 coins in this so called "coin holder" ruins the look of the consol area.

man oh man , you got me thinking here, hehehehe, I actually went down to my car in the garage after reading your post and investigate this so called coin holder located below the security blinker light and I can't think of any use for those slots but for 3 quarters, unless jaguar has incorporated those slots as part of the aesthethic design for looks. I always thought It was some kind of a vent but it has no bottom openning.????? anyone has a better idea what those are for?

yup.... for years i thought it was some sound sensor for the security.... but i just noticed there are no vents in the slots... you know what else i noticed, in the overhead console there are two vent looking things. they look like they would be motion sensors for when the sun roof is open.... but when i took the overhead console off i saw there is nothing behind them! wtf could those things do?

Dang!!!!!!! Took me forever to get this to post.....Anyway....where are you guys talking about? It sounds like where the DSC button is in my car. If theres no button, then the coin holder is probably just a space filler.
And I thought those vent things were speakers/mic for the hands free phone system that I dont have. lol

It's clear - the fine people at Jaguar put that coin holder there for the Canadian market - it perfectly fits the $1 & $2 coins - makes the early morning coffee run much smoother - and my coins ride in style - they ride perfectly upright!

Dynamic stability
control (DSC)
Dynamic stability control is operational
whenever the engine is running, unless it
has been switched off. If the system is
operating, the warning light in the
instrument cluster will flash.
The DSC system controls the anti-lock
braking system (ABS), traction control
and yaw control of the vehicle.
Yaw control determines the vehicle’s
direction relative to the driver’s inputs
(sideslip and under/oversteer). It applies
braking pressure to individual wheels if
excessive variation is detected. This
ensures that the vehicle follows the
driver’s intended direction of travel.
The system will intervene to prevent
wheel spin, by automatically reducing the
power output from the engine and
applying braking to individual wheels.
This improves acceleration, particularly
on surfaces with uneven friction,
for example, one wheel on ice the other
on tarmac.
The dynamic stability control system can
be switched OFF by pressing the switch
on the centre console. The warning light
in the instrument cluster will remain on
and, if fitted, a message will be shown to
indicate that the system has been
switched OFF. If the switch is pressed
again the system will switch ON.
Note:
If cruise control is engaged it will
automatically disengage if stability control
activates.
If a message centre is fitted, a system
malfunction is indicated by the message:
STABILITY CONTROL FAULT
Warning light:
Amber.
For all vehicles, the instrument cluster
warning light will be lit.
It is safe to drive the vehicle but the
system may not activate under wheel spin
or slide conditions. Report the fault to a
Jaguar Dealer as soon as possible.

RE: no way!!!! that can't do what everyone says it does!
So basically, another feature to save us from ourselves, right? [8D][8D]
We went through all of this with racing Superbikes.
Question: "Do you use traction control?"
Answer: "Yes, every time I twist the throttle"....
I will admit though, that the active stability controls as now available on certain cars, make it much easier for me to put my wife and children in their vehicles in our mountain weather, with a little more peace of mind.
