Noo! I have a poblem with my clutch! Or something.. lol
Ok so this morning...
There came along a mustang 5.0...
Then a camaro Z/28 decided to jump in..
And then an e36 M3...
We decided to show off a little bit...
I was keeping up with the mustang.. SORT OF.. lol.. it was only pulling away a little bit
the camaro was not a problem... left it from the start while I was following the mstang
the m3... ehhhh... I couldnt really tell since it started behind the camaro..
We were all driving down the road at a nice clip..
I started to notice my clutch pedalhaving a shorter distance to go thefloor..
so I pulled up on it with my foot and it popped back into position..
Now it only did thisa few timeswhen i was driving spiritedlyand only started this morning..
I parked it at work where I'm at right now and pushed the pedalin fast.. slow.. half way.. and couldn't replicate it..so I guess it only does it in gear..
My question is....
Is my clutch going out? Or is it something else?
I'm coming up on 94,000 miles and I'm pretty sure the original clutch is still on the car..
Anyone have any ideas?

first check the brake fluid level,, and report back..
try to geta helper and lean if the clutch lever (down under the battery) is moving with the pedal.. the symptoms sound like air in the system, but that really should not happen unless the reservoir is low..

Mines been doing exactly this for months now, and fluid level is fine.
Feels like short travel to the floor after hard acceleration and fine when not driving flat out.
Not slipping though.

EXACTLY LIKE THAT.
My uncle said to leave the car for him tomorrow so he can check it out.
So hopefully I'll know what the clutch problem is..
And a couple other knick knack items that im worried about

Alright so my fluid was fine...
We couldn't find the problem...
Actually i was the only one looking for the problem since my uncle seems to always ignore the fact that I say something is happening if he doesnt see it himself.
But later.. i figured out how to replicate it...
Buck if you rev the engine a little bit.. say ~2k-3k rpm.. and then let the clutch out like normal it will do it almost everytime.. leaving me to pick up the rest of the travel with my foot.
What could this be!
It isn't slipping.. YET.. but im sure if i dont get this fixed soon ill start roasting my clutch because its still somewhat pressed in..

Are you going to take it back to him and do rev to 2-3k and letting clutch out as normal so he can then see what happens???

I'm new to the forum and will do my hellos somewhere else, but on this thread I stumbled across a possible cause of the clutch pedal not returning.
It's from the GTR site
Summary
A308-02: This Technical Bulletin has been issued to address a customer concern over the clutch
pedal sticking intermittently in the down position and will not return unless manually operated.
Action
To eliminate the clutch pedal sticking intermittently in the down position, an additional new clutch
pedal spring is to be installed.
Hope this helps

Welcome to the forum
On mine the clutch pedal only doesnt return fully about accelerating HARD at all other times it works fine.
When reving up to 2-3k and then letting clutch out as normal its fine.
Reving to 2-3k and then booting it as fast as you can causes the concern but soon returns to normal soon after.
Woulld hard acceleration casue the clutch spring to not allow full clutch return when its OK at all other times?

I ordered a clutch pedal return spring from my dealer anyways since it was only 7 bucks.
Im going to have my uncle look at it anyways but I'll let you guys know what happens

I havent got my part yet... but anyways...
so i got it to do it while shiftingto neutral so i just stopped and took a look at the pedal. I compressed where the spring is and it popped back up to position.. so maybe it really is the spring..
Hey buck... I'm too lazy to do this but you should take ur spring off and see what it does in extreme cases. i.e no spring at all..
if does it every time then thank god we've found a solution!

If your pedal will not fully return, and you have a hard time shifting sometime, you may need a clutch master cylinder. I replaced mine a while back. Part was $50 from Rock Auto online. I had a mechanic install it for $40.
If it's not the return spring, I'd go ahead and get the clutch master installed and hopefully your problem will be solved.

I should have been more specific, but I had a hard time shifting because I was also low on brake fluid. So if you aren't, you may not exhibit the shifting problem I experienced.
However, as far as the pedal not returning, the clutch master cylinder was my culprit. Just something to take into consideration that won't cost you an arm and a leg if that is indeed the problem.

Ok, is there a test to check the master cylinder?

Thanks for the info...a bit of relief compared to having to fork out £900 for a new clutch!
I am going to price up a clutch pedal return spring and clutch master cylinder on Monday when I am back to work and the dealer is open

Anything to prevent a fellow X owner from breaking the bank
. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt when I had to get a clutch last winter.
