Default Parking Sensors

Hi all... I look after a friends 2003 2.0L diesel x-type. He asked me to have a look at the parking sensors as they didn't appear to be working. After a bit of diagnosis I've found one the the sensors and the speaker unit are both toast.

I'd originally started searching for some replacement parts but after seeing some of the prices (excessively high) I've decided to go the route of buying a new parking sensor kit (£15 off ebay but excellent quality) and installing it in place of the factory fitted kit.

My question is... is the factory fitted parking sensor kit linked to the cars ecu, so if I remove it and block off the wires to the controller unit will it bring up an ecu fault? Also which fuse in the glovebox fusebox is the for the parking sensors? I seem to recall someone saying f33 but best to check.

If all goes well with my idea I'll put a guide up on here, I know the X Type is a beautiful car but the prices quoted for replacement parts for the parking kit were unbelievable so if I can save someone some pennies all the better

Thanks
