Red face Parking sensors

Hi, I have rear parking sensors on my X-Type that are working but the audible beeping warning sound is extremely quiet. The beeping sound is coming from beneath the rear shelf behind the rear seat. Have had a quick look (and in the trunk) but the location of a speaker or such like has me baffled! Each actual sensor is clicking so assume all is well at that end. Any ideas?

Sounds like the speaker is starting to go. Probably blew the cone out of the speaker. I would need to look at my car to give you a detailed explaination of where the speaker is mounted.

Question

Have had back seats out when on cleaning mission, I tried then to get rear shelf up but looked difficult and ran out of time but I think thats the way in. Not sure if I should be looking for a conventional speaker or something different?

The speaker is mounted under the parcel shelf and the 'official' way to it is by removing the shelf. However, that is an awkward job and it is possible to get at it from the boot/trunk easily. (If you don't have the two premium system speakers mounted there! Not having them, I don't know how they might interfere)
From the boot, look up at the metalwork running under the parcel shelf. there are two circular apertures (unless the speakers are there!) The parking aid speaker is mounted between them, held in place by two black plastic rivets. Push your hand up through the large speaker aperture to locate it. Cut the rivets off from underneath and pull the parking aid speaker out. Replace with screws and nuts or double sided sticky tape.
