Default Part Indentification - X-Type

Hi all,

Longtime peruser and first time poster. Recently opened trunk on 2003 2.5L Jaguar X-Type and found these odd black, rubber discs. It appears that they warped (Florida heat strikes again) and fell through from two holes in the roof of the trunk/rear seat trim. I am wondering what the purpose of these discs are, and if I truly need to reposition/adhere them back into place. Any insight into these peculiar parts would be greatly appreciated.

If I had to take a guess, those are the fill ins for the subwoofers (which your car doesn't have, you have just a basic radio setup). Those appear to be about 6" in diameter. If you open the trunk and stick your head in and look on the under side of the rear parcel shelf, you should see where these 2 discs go near the center of the shelf.

Must you re-install them. Nope. Worst case, all that you may notice is a little more road noise coming from the back of the car. But I doubt you will notice any difference. Worst case, a bit of glue and put them back in their place.

Thermo, thank you. Perhaps I'll glue them back into place and call it a day.
